Balto Comes to Hittyville

Maryellen is taking some time to study Nature and document her findings with her camera and journal.

Oh my!  Maryellen observes a big eye!

The "eye" belongs to the sweetest puppy Maryellen has ever seen...next to Scooter, that is.  She wonders who he belongs to.

Grandpa Apple is out of breath!  He has been chasing after the puppy he is in charge of watching until a home can be found for the active little fellow.

The puppy has quite a lineage.

 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia...
Balto (1919 – March 14, 1933) was a black and white Siberian husky sled dog who led his team on the final leg of the 1925 serum run to Nome, in which diphtheria antitoxin was transported from Anchorage, Alaska, to Nenana, Alaska, by train and then to Nome by dog sled to combat an outbreak of the disease.[1] The run is commemorated by the annual Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race. Balto was named after the Sami explorer Samuel Balto. Balto died of old age at 14.

Grandpa Apple believes a dog related to Balto deserves the best of lives!

Maryellen is happy to announce Little Balto has indeed found the best of homes...with her!

~A happy ending~
