Happy Halloween

The Little Halloween Friends are ready to greet the Hittyville Trick or Treaters.

Meanwhile...
Maryellen thought she asked Betsy to meet her at the Gazebo.

Betsy thought Maryellen asked her to meet her at the Treehouse.

Finally...
The Friends found one another and are ready for an exciting time filling up their Halloween bags with treats.

Mitford Love

Jan Karon wrote of her beloved Mitford series...
"I write to give readers an extended family, and a little town they can call their own."
I feel the same way about my own Hittyville!
I started reading this series over 20 years ago, but never really gave it my full attention...until now.  I am totally captivated and can't wait to get back to Father Tim and Barnabas!

Halloween Eve in Hittyville

Maryellen and Betsy are getting ready to decorate their Trick or Treat bags.

Later...
 Beautiful!

The Hittyville Art Studio seems very quiet on the outside...

But inside, the Art From the Heart Friends are finishing up their Halloween pictures.

Every Halloween Eve, the Little Witches borrow The Hittyville Cafe kitchen to make all their Trick or Treat goodies.  The Haunted Homestead is the most visited place in Hittyville on Halloween night.

Five Little Pumpkins

Bea wanted to visit the Hittyville Pumpkin Patch with JUST her mother.

The youngest Merry picked out five pumpkins for a special Halloween Surprise for her family.

Later...
Bea invited everyone to the Merry Family Art and Dance Studio for a presentation of her own.

Five Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate...
The first one said, "Oh my, it's getting late."
The second one said, "There's witches in the air."
The third one said, "But we don't care."
The fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run."
The fifth one said, "It's Halloween fun!"
Ooooo went the wind
And OUT went the lights
And the the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight.

After a cheering standing ovation, Bella congratulated her daughter and invited the family back to the main homestead for cider and doughnuts!

~It was the best of family gatherings~

Maryellen's Costume

Maryellen has loads of black fabric.
Should she make a witch's costume?

Maryellen's Playground

Maryellen is very happy with her gazebo which she decorated for Fall all by herself!

Maryellen hasn't spent much time in her treehouse lately.
Maybe she should take a look...

There is less than a week until Halloween.
Maryellen needs to get busy!

 This project looks like fun!

Later...
 Perfect!

Hmm...
Time to go looking for pumpkins!

Lewis' Very YELLOW Day

Lewis is taking in the beauty of the last of the Fall Dandelions...
As you all know, Lewis LOVES Dandelions because they are YELLOW!

Lewis spent a heavenly half hour resting on a bed of YELLOW leaves and gazing at the brilliant blue sky.

It was a good day to be Lewis.

A Man of Many Talents

 Joe loves his leaf blower...

Joe and I have been busy working on a set for Maryellen.

Thank you, Joe...You are simply the best~

Noah and Hurricane Patricia

Last week, Noah traveled to Houston, Texas for a teaching conference.  Being a typical mother, I watched the path of Hurricane Patricia and called and texted Noah frequently with updates and concerns the remnants of the storm may very well land in Houston.
Well...the rains and flooding did arrive and the remainder of Noah's conference was cancelled and thank goodness he was able to get a flight out of Houston before the really bad weather made an appearance.
It didn't help his credit card was shut down due to fraudulent activity traced to Michigan!  He found that out while trying to pay for his dinner...
It was quite an adventure for my dear son.

~Happy Ending~

Sunday Night With Brooke

Although we have 3 paper cutters at home, none of them are very efficient at cutting multiple papers.  So...after dinner, Brooke and I headed to her school to get the job done.
The new school is starting to feel like "home" and my daughter finally feels happily settled.

~Adjusting takes time~

And Then There Were Three

Over the weekend, we lost one of our beloved goats, Curly.  He was always camera shy and is pictured way in the back.  Curly lived a nice long life and just fell asleep and didn't wake up Saturday morning.
He will be greatly missed by his entire farm family...two and four legged.

Moe and Danny say hello...

Larry was Curly's best buddy in the farmyard.  We are giving him lots of tender loving care...
