Lewis' YELLOW Period

Beatrix Potter has been giving Lewis art lessons and thinks he is very gifted.

Lewis believes he has found his calling.
The budding artist wants the world to love YELLOW as much as he does!

His first work of art is definitely a start...

Molly the Mouse and Friends

 Molly and Joe
Are husband and wife
First a honeymoon trip
And then their new life.

Meanwhile...
The Fox Family has moved to Critter Hollow to take over the Diner which Mrs. Bunny used to manage.

Mrs. Bunny explains to Mirs. Bear she will now be running the General Store because Molly the Mouse wants to be a homemaker and hopefully soon...a mother!

One change leads to another...

Yesterday

Brooke and I spent all of Monday getting our cars serviced, snow tires removed, and then there was a bit of shopping...and lunch, of course!
Time flies when you are running errands.

My Kind of Game

I am all about hidden objects and puzzles I can actually solve!

Loving YELLOW

Lewis and Hitty Rose are so excited to see the Easter Egg Exhibit at the Hittyville Monet Museum.

The Director of the Museum, Pierre Dupont, explains Monet created the Eggs for his children many years ago.

Lewis can't take his eyes off the amazing YELLOW chick.
He is in love...

Lewis announces to Hitty Rose he is going to become an artist and and paint pictures using lots of YELLOW...just like Picasso did.
Hitty Rose gently reminds Lewis Picasso did not go through a YELLOW Period.  His was a Blue Period.
That piece of news inspires Lewis even more!  He will be the first artist EVER to paint all things YELLOW!

There is nothing quite like having a passion.

Up They Go

Thank you, Joe, for finding just the right spots for my puzzles...

Back From the Flu

Brooke is up, dressed, and feeling MUCH better...a bit weak...but back in the swing of daily living!

The Hittyville Bookmobile

The Bookmobile made its first official stop at the Brown Homestead and Governor Hitty was on hand to help celebrate this momentous event.

The children are thrilled to have their very own library books for the next week.

The Bookmobile might not be YELLOW, but at least the little shelf is!

It was a very happy day for the Hittyville Friends.

Our "Nurse" Dogs

Poor Brooke has been sick with the flu, but she has not lacked for company.
This is one mean bug and I hope it goes away VERY soon!

Polly...A Collector of Quotes

Polly has a very best friend, Clara, and thinks this quote describes their friendship perfectly.

"A friend is someone you can be alone with
and
Have nothing to do
and
Not be able to think of anything to say
and
Be comfortable in the silence."
Sheryl Condie

Library Volunteers

Hitty Marian the Librarian is gathering books for the new Hittyville Bookmobile.
She is looking for volunteers to help with this major project.
Hitty Marian would like the Bookmobile to visit each of the Five Boroughs of Hittyville at least once a week.

Hitty Rose would love to help the Hittyville Friends check out books from the Bookmobile.

Lewis volunteers to drive the Bookmobile throughout Hittyville and hopes with all his heart the Bookmobile is YELLOW!

Hitty Marian gently informs Lewis the Bookmobile was donated to the Hittyville Library and and is actually a very lovely shade of green.

Lewis Loves a Rainy Day

As most of you know, Lewis loves all things YELLOW.
So when the rains come, Lewis can't wait to put on his YELLOW raincoat and YELLOW rain hat and spend time visiting with the YELLOW ducks who always find their way to the Little Puddle after a rainfall.

Lewis believes "the wetter the better"...

An Old Friend...A New Mystery

I haven't read a Jessica Fletcher adventure in a long time.
I am learning quite a bit about Maui's rich folklore as well as enjoying a "cozy" mystery.
I wonder how long it will take for my bookshelves to be full again?

My Journal

Throughout the years, I have started journaling in all kinds of books...But the composition notebook calls to me in a way no other journal has.  It feels like "home" when I am writing and adding all kinds of odds and ends.
I look forward to beginning a new journal as this one is almost filled to the brim AND all the way to the last page!

My Faith Walk

I have immersed myself in Bible study, books on Scripture, devotionals, prayers, etc. over the past 6 months.
The more time I spent studying Christianity, the more restrictive it felt to me.
I have always believed that God is at the hub of the Spiritual Wheel and there are many spokes, which in my mind, connect each individual to his/her Creator.
We do, indeed, bloom where we are planted and religions will vary as much as cultures.
I believe the Great Creator endowed us with the ability to communicate with Him on many levels and each of us must find our own way to do that.
I also believe respecting, embracing, and not judging the faith of others is a step toward world peace.
Yes, there will always be extremists of every faith who will distort the foundations religions were built upon.  We have seen what religious wars have done throughout all civilizations, including our own present time.  But we can overcome those fears and prejudices and look toward the light of each faith.

The Youngblood's song, "Get Together" speaks volumes...to me.

Love is but a song to sing
Fear's the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Though the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why

Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now

Some may come and some may go
We shall surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moment's sunlight
Fading in the grass

Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now

If you hear the song I sing
You will understand (listen!)
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
It's there at your command

Come on people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another
Right now

Spring Swans

Every Spring, a pair of swans visit the Miller's little farm pond.
The beautiful creatures usually stay for a week and then take off in search of their next destination.
It is fun to imagine the places the swans have traveled through and where they will eventually settle for the season.

The very same scenario takes place on Windy Ridge Farm during March.
It is amazing how Hittyville and Windy Ridge Farm mirror one another!

Molly the Mouse

She greets every shopper
Who walks through the door.

Polly...A Collector of Quotes

Meet Polly, one of my very favorite Hittyville Friends.
Polly asked me if she might share some of the quotes she is so fond of collecting.
I thought it was a wonderful idea.
Here's Polly...

"I love red so much that I almost want to paint everything red."
Alexander Calder

Mr. Calder was a very talented sculptor and painter...and so much more.
If he were alive today, I would ask him to paint a portrait of me.
I guess this picture will have to do!

Making Friends With Lizzie

As I peered out my library window and took a long look at the new construction, I decided it is not the house's fault I won't see...
~the complete rainbows which so often extended over the new owner's property
~the Amish and their horses working the land
~the haystacks at harvest time
~horses and cows grazing in the fields
~the deer path...the house is sitting on it
~and the peacefulness and beauty of the view.
Nope...it's not the house's fault.
So I have decided to call the house Lizzie and think of her as a new neighbor who should be welcomed with open arms!

~I can do this~
